Dr Chris Martin

B.Com, MBBS, FAFRM (RACP), FFPMANZCA

Doctor Martin grew up in Sydney and had interest in sports growing up, sustaining many injuries along the way, priming interest in pain and rehabilitation medicine. He gained scholarship to Newington college and completed schooling at St Ignatius College.  Subsequently, he received scholarship for university and studied Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery.

 

Following internship and residency at Royal Perth Hospital, Dr Martin pursued Advanced Training in Rehabilitation Medicine (Royal Australasian College of Physicians) at the State Rehabilitation Service. From this training, he has special expertise and experience in pain management for:

 

- Spasticity treatment (including intramuscular injection)

- Spinal cord injury

- Brain injury / neurological conditions

- Amputation pain e.g phantom limb pain

 

Dr Martin is a Consultant Rehabilitation Specialist with outpatient spinal cord injury clinics at Fiona Stanley State Rehabilitation Service.

 

Subsequently he completed a Fellowship in Pain Medicine under Australia and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists, via Sir Charles Gairdner and Royal Perth Hospitals. Dr Martin was selected for interventional Fellowship, developing skills in advanced, minimally invasive procedural pain management. His special interest is in combining procedural intervention with rehabilitation techniques to optimise recovery of his patients.

 

He holds Consultant position publicly at Sir Charles Gairdner / Osborne Park Hospital Pain Management. Dr Martin consults and performs procedures privately at SJOG Mt Lawley Hospital, Mount Hospital and Hollywood private hospital.
